Oh my god. So, saw the most hilarious film last night, called "Around The World In 80 Days". *faints* That film was actually as good as "The Anchorman", and the other night, here sat Ki, raving about how nothing had been that funny in a long time. Now, this movie had some good cameos in it, Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson were just kind of tossed in there for a lovely five minute period, and it was wonderful, because Ki adores those two. They make everything golden. But, best of all, there was a good part with John Cleese in it. *sighs happily* And Ki loves John Cleese.

HILL OF TARA THREATENED

Tara, seat of the kings of Ireland and the veritable soul of Ireland
itself, is threatened by plans to build a major motorway through the
area. A large number of archeological sites will be immediately
impacted by this decision, and a floodlit 34-acre highway interchange
will be placed half a mile from the sacred hill itself.

You can do something about this really bad idea by going to

http://www.taraskryne.org/indexmain.html

run by the Tara-Skryne
Valley Campaign.

Cross posted to celts, kissmeimceltic, mothertongue, celtic_ogham, folk_metal (not as off-topic as you'd think...) & darkpaganism.

This narrow valley is one of the most culturally and archaeologically significant places in the world. Many monuments predate the Egyptian pyramids. The chamber within Tara's Mound of the Hostages is perfectly aligned with the full moon of Lughnasa and the rising sun of Samhain and Imbolg.

The Hill of Tara has been a sanctuary for every generation since. It is precisely because it has remained intact, unlike many comparable Continental sites, that it holds a special key to understanding the continuous progression of European civilisation.

It's places like this that are a tangible link to the same ancestral european heritage articulated in folk metal & the like. If you're into this stuff for the spirit of the music, please take a minute to sign the petition.
