She knows me so well, better than anyone. She's nineteen years old, she's never been sick, she's traveled the country multiple times by my feet, and she's turned her back at me, nose in the air, feigning she's a stoic (but for the sad curve of her tail and the little twitch in her ear) everytime she's seen me heading for the door without her, luggage in tow. She sits next to my keyboard and watches me, and at night when I'm sleeping she likes to curl up by the area between my shoulder and my head, not actually touching, but close enough to feel each other's presence. If she happens to get up in the night she always kisses my nose and forehead before walking away. If I'm arguing with someone she stands just behind and to the side of me glaring at them, growling if it gets out of hand, and if I bring a new boy or girlfriend over, she sits and tests them (this usually consists of her sitting in front of them, and seeing if they try to pet her without letting her smell their hand, and if she allows them to pet her, she checks to see if they get too friendly too quickly)to see if she approves. I'm the only person on this planet allowed to pick her up, carry her, or lightly move her aside, and she's the only person (she's family to me, so yes she's people) allowed to always sleep by me. She's the guardian of all animals kept in aquariums (she'd always watch over the fish -and no that doesn't mean trying to get them - she'd watch over the rats, hamsters, and gerbils we've had over the years - never tried to get those either, but she'd actually share her food with them if they tried to get her food dish when they were out - and now she keeps over my bearded dragon), my reminder if I try to sleep in too late, and she guards over my when I'm bathing (when I read in the tub she'll perch on the sink beside me and look at me like "why do you sit in the water? Are you okay? I'd never sit in the water.") She knows when I'm upset, even if I'm trying my damnedest not to show it, and she always acts accordingly.

Anyway. She just came up and kissed my nose, and now she'd like a pat, so I've got to go =-)

I love how she's smiling for this picture
