Nov. 3rd, 2004

Sorry about earlier. Feel bad about ranting. I don't actually really hate anyone, but I am extremely saddened about what this country has come to. The ideals, the reasons, the people, everything this country was founded on, everything people for years fought to protect, it's all gone straight down the pisser. Everything here is empty, it's all worthless, it all means nothing, it's backed by exactly what our money is backed on, nothing, everything is glitz, glamour, lies, it's all Hollywood, it's all fabricated, and the scary thing is that other countries are starting to see that, it'll come tumbling down soon, because our word means nothing. Coming from a family of Republicans, Marines, strict morals, etc, losing faith in the country for me is a big thing. Years ago Republican wasn't a bad thing, military wasn't a bad thing, and the President was somebody to be admired, trusted, and loved. Over the past few elections I've lost those beliefs. Years ago I agreed with Republican views on the budget, on educations, etc, although for obvious reasons there's always been certain Republican views I don't agree with. This nation has become a joke. I don't believe this, but, the country's integrity is so in question for me at the moment, that, and I can't believe I thought this even for just a flash, but I actually had the thought that "these last two elections have just been too sensational, too intense, I wonder if this is being scripted because it makes for good television". That is how bad it is. The population is just getting lazier, stupider, addicted to entertainment, losing values, it's disgusting. The government knows this. The government wants this. We're so close to being hypnotised, so close to being brain washed, they just keep feeding us these lies, this filth, this slop, it's horrible. It's disgusting.

I don't hate my country, but it's depressing, what's happening. It really is.
Ballot measures

Six months after gay and lesbian couples won the right to marry in Massachusetts, opponents of same-sex marriage struck back Tuesday, with voters in 11 states projected to approve constitutional amendments codifying marriage as exclusively being between a man and a woman. (what the hell happened to equal rights for everyone?)

California voters, who faced 16 statewide ballot measures, are projected to pass a measure to establish a constitutional right to conduct research using stem cells and to authorize $3 billion for such research. (what do you guys think on this? Ki's curious)

A ballot measure approving the use of marijuana for medical reasons is projected to pass in Montana. (Think something like this happened in California a few years ago, not sure what happened to it though)

Colorado voters are projected to reject a proposal to change its winner-take-all to allocated electoral votes for presidential candidates.(Not sure what this is, it doesn't seem worded properly))

A Florida measure to require parental notification before minors can obtain an abortion is projected to passed.(What do you guys think about this?)

Gambling is another hot ballot issue, with six states deciding 13 measures.
