Feb. 3rd, 2005 06:57 amDid you guys know that Georgia-Pacific, (the company that makes Dixie brand, Brawny, Quilted Northern toilet paper, Angel Soft toilet paper, Craftsman products, among many others) has been busted for tax evasion, exposing consumers to asbestos, and in 2001 settled a racial harrassment suit for $200,000.
"Georgia Pacific was named one of the 'Top 100 Corporate Criminals of the 1990s' for tax evasion and was given a criminal fine of $5 million. The company made a false claim of a $24 million charitable contribution deduction on its federal income tax return. Georgia Pacific also paid $16 million to settle civil charges. The 'Corporate Criminal' list was created to focus public attention on "the pervasive criminality that has corrupted the marketplace and that is given little sustained attention and analysis by politicians and news outlets."
At the same time, their company is doing awesome
"Georgia-Pacific Annual Net Income More than Doubles
2004 was "an outstanding year" for Georgia-Pacific, with strong performance by the company’s consumer and building products businesses, and debt reduced by $2 billion."
(maybe they're lying to get shareholders, who knows)

Ki proposes nobody touch Georgia Pacific, if at all possible.

Here are their products.
And as far as food products go, Tyson has got to be one of the worst.
"On January 1, 2001, Tyson outbid Smithfield for IBP, creating a meat megaconglomerate that gives Tyson power to buy meat cheaply from farmers and charge meat retailers higher prices"
"The state of Maryland accused Tyson Foods of dumping thousands of gallons of chicken sludge -- feathers and guts -- near waterways, where scientists say it could cause illnesses. "
"Tyson Foods' Tyson Seafoods Division was strongly criticized for its high-tech, large-scale factory fishing fleets, which were accused of wiping out traditional fishing communities, overexploiting the world's conventional fishstocks, and disrupting the biological diversity of the seas."
Here's a list of their products

And WHY?? Why???
Why is the stock of the company that was found abusing chickens (the same company that was supplying KFC with chickens) rising???? The thought of eating an animal that was horridly abused during it's short miserable life is just disgusting. I don't mind the idea of eating meat. It's tasty, people enjoy it, it's natural, that's fine. But does the animal really need to be treated cruelly before consumption?
