Jun. 26th, 2008 01:23 pmMaybe I'm crazy for being so worked up over this, but I have to say it - one of my coworkers has taken pieces of my lunch numerous times. It's usually stuff I have a few servings of - like pouring a cup of juice from my V8 or a few crackers out of my Triscuits box...and then she "let's me know" after the fact....
I don't mind sharing. Maybe that's where the problem came from. She used to ask, and I'd say it's okay...I've given her plenty of stuff, like some of my hummous or even one of my packages of curry noodles, and I didn't mind, but that is because she asked ahead of time, and so I didn't feel like I'd been infringed upon or taken advantage of.
Then two weeks ago, she announced into the room "Who's V8 is that in the fridge?" I said it's mine, and was like "Ooops, I had some of it, I didn't know who's it was" Well, first, who does that? Do you really take something, without asking, just because you didn't know who's it is? No, you go around and ask who's it is, and then if you can have some. Same thing happened with the Triscuits.
Then today, I bit my lip and didn't say anything, because I didn't know what to say, but she came up and asked me if that is my Ezekiel bread in the fridge. I said yes, and she was like "Oh, okay, because I had a couple of slices." She didn't seem to even care, like it's community property or something. First off, it had my name on it. Second, that is expensive bread, it's like over $5.00 for a loaf of it. I went and moved it, but it's really upsetting me, because I bring in bulk items like that, because it's cheaper than going out for lunch, and because between work and school I don't have time to prepare something AND have it be healthy.
How freakin rude. I don't know what to think, she's a nice enough person, but is it my fault for saying yes everytime she asked for something before? I would never construe someone saying yes many times as an invitation to stop asking.
