Jul. 17th, 2008 12:56 pmForty years doesn't seem like very long when I consider that with my current retirement account + $200/month + 3% interest, I'll only have $100,355.99 when I retire. That doesn't include my pension from work (I'm already on the pension plan, and in November I'll have been here for 2yrs, which means I do get to keep it!), plus if the government comes up with something similar to social security (which I'm not counting on), so I need to up that! Can't wait to finish school and start earning more :) Luckily I'll always have my house as an investment!
Honestly it's not a big worry right now, since it won't be hard to start saving more than $200 a month - but I'm only 26 - this is a kick in the butt to those of you who are putting off your futures now - cause just think, $100k won't go far if you don't have an income at age eighty! I work in a clinic that sees homeless patients, and if you think some of them aren't senior citizens you're sadly mistaken. I care about you guys, and I want you to take care of yourselves!
