Right, misadventures in Marsing eh? *snickers*
Well, decided to go for a drive
sed yesterday. Was feeling bored, and restless, and sometimes the best thing for me to do in one of those situations is drive out of town, far enough away to feel like have gone somewhere totally, totally, different, but close enough to be able to go home and sleep for work =-)
Luckily, in Idaho, you can drive 10 or 15 minutes in any direction and feel like you've entered some sort of weird new dimension. At least, from where Ki is.
So, this time decided to drive in the direction of Marsing. There's a lot of beautiful things in that area, and sometimes seeing the mountains just puts me at peice. Mountains or water, need one or the other, and Marsing just so happens to give you a great view of both.
Now Marsing is a very small town, the sign claims only 809 people reside there. Ki'd suppose that's why when she stuck her head into the local bar (named "The Pour House") literally every guy in there turned, looked at me, and started yelling in these little hick voices "Who are you? Whooo are youuuuu?" Self turned around and slowly backed out of there, slammed the door, and quickly walked away. Sony seemed to find that hilarious. She'd been waiting outside, but she heard them. It was pretty nasty.
So we're walking down the way a bit and weird hick cars keep slowing down by us, I mean, the town is so used to not seeing outsiders, that funny hick guys would drive by, would their heads turned all the way sideways, instead of facing the road, to stare.
We come to the local market, and Sony needs to use the restroom, so we go inside. Now this place has groceries that self would swear have been on the shelves for the last ten years, because they're faded and dented. Sony was in the restroom, and Ki got bored. Let's just suffice it to say that don't think people there are used to seeing strange girls dancing in the aisles of the store.
Continuing our little "downtown" Marsing walk, there's a funny little man outside the library. He's rubbing his nose and talking to himself, and Ki asks if he's okay.
"Yeah. I'm fine, I just hit my nose on that pole over there.."
"Oh, well that's too bad. That must of hurt"
"Yeah, yeah... who're you talking to there? Is that you're boyfriend?" *points to my cell phone*
Ki lies.. "Yes, yes this is my boyfriend"
"OH.. Well, he's going to get you into trouble"
"No he isn't"
"Yes he is, wait and see....... is he cute?" (This is an old redneck guy saying this)
"Yes. He's cute."
"Oh...." *cackles and climbs into pick up truck*
What a weirdo.
Not long after that we walked back to the river, and played on the playground at the park there for a bit. Hehehe, went on the swings while singing songs from "Annie" and "Grease". Very interesting place, Marsing is.

"drive south from the Snake River on US 95 to Poison Creek Road, which is 2.5 miles south of the junction of US 95 and SR 55. Follow Poison Creek Road for 3.5 miles to a 4 way intersection and turn left onto the unnamed gravel road. Follow this route for .5 mile, then turn right onto a dirt road. The no trespassing signs posted do not regard the canyon area. This is the public access to the canyon. In .4 mile, the road forks, the lower of which is a private driveway, and the upper continues on to the parking area for the canyon. The trail begins at the bottom of the hill at the end of the road, and winds it's way into the canyon, behind huge boulders, across the stream, and finally to the falls in .2 mile."

Too bad the subject wasn't brought up sooner, you could've taken Casper to see it. It's nothing spectacular, it's just really cool how it's way back in the canyon.

Date: 2004-05-26 02:33 am (UTC)That's the kind of shit you'd think was only in movies.
And not just any movies, I'm talking like B-movie slasher types.
I was in front of their antique grocery store with the gas pumps that have the rolly numbers as opposed to our modern digital, and I half expected for my then-boyfriend's car not to start and fucking Leatherface jumping on our asses with a rusty chainsaw!
