We got married Aug. 2005 and I have yet to do it. My husband hates that I haven't done it yet. Was it a pain in the ass? I'm thinking about doing it as an anniversary gift..

I did it as one of Matt's anniversary gifts (our anni is on 08/17) - it was actually so much easier than I thought it would be! You just need to bring a certified copy of your wedding certificate ($3 at the courthouse if you don't have one, I didn't know I'd need it, and I went to the courthouse thinking that's where I'd change it, so they gave me the copy there) and an ID card, head over to social security out on Vinnel Way (by wal mart on overland), and then it just takes about five minutes once they call your number up to the desk.

That is interesting! Did you have any specific reasons for it? Is the procedure difficult in the US?

Not too difficult, I did it over my lunch hour at work - specific reason as an anniversary gift to my husband, I'd not gotten around to changing it before!
